Outlining the essence of ‘Vanche Gujarat’ mission, Chief Minister said that at the time when our lives have become robotic, books are the way out from this unfortunate situation. Our social structure has been immerged from the ‘granths’ like Ramayan and Mahabharat. From Upanishads till now, all the ages have worshiped the power of knowledge. Unfortunately today, ‘Information’ is taking the place of ‘Knowledge’. In the time of information overload only knowledge can lead us to light, he said.

Motivating people to include a ‘Granth-Mandir’ – a library at their house, he said that there should not be a house without books. He also suggested giving a book instead of flower on greeting occasions. Such small experiment can make a big difference, he said.

For a child ‘Reading’ is something which he does to pass the exam of school. We should infuse the environment with such a craze for reading that the child start taking ‘Reading’ as a tool to pass the exam of life, he said.

On outlining the ‘Samay-Dan’ mission he called upon youth to devote at least 100 hours, during the year-long Swarnim Gujarat celebrations, in any area they chose, be it education, health services, cleanliness or environment.

Under ‘floating-books’ initiative, Chief Minister gave away two books to book-loving students. About 205 inspirational by 18 veterans including Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Governor Dr.Smt.Kamalaji were donated as ‘floating-books’.

Education Minister Shri Ramanlal Vora in his welcome address said that as the innovative programmes foresighted by the Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi has revolutionize the educational system in Gujarat, ‘Vanche Gujarat’ movement is surely to evoke a high spirit in the society with the youths devoting 100 hours of their time for the upliftment of the State.

Principal Secretary to Education Department Shri Hasmukh Adhiya appealed all educators and litterateurs to make the ‘Vanche Gujarat Mission’ a grand success.

Cabinet Minister Smt Anandiben Patel, Nitinbhai Patel, Fakirbhai Vaghela, Mangubhai Patel, Jaysinh Chauhan, Vasanbhai Ahir, Famous litterateurs Shri Raghuvir Chaudhary, Chinu Modi, Bholabhai Patel, Krishna Dave, Harshad Trivedi and Nitin Vadgama along with educators, youths donating 100 hours and book- lovers in large numbers were present on the occasion.

Chief Minister also launched websites related to both the missions during the event. www.vanchegujarat.in website will provide all the information relating to ‘Vanche Gujarat’ mission.
