When it comes to politics, it doesn’t matter if you are a man or woman, illiterate or educated, urban or rural, old or young, Hindu or Muslim, upper caste or Dalit.
Everybody has an opinion and everyone believes he or she is right. Narendra Modi is not among the dozen or so men and women who barely conceal their prime ministerial ambitions but if a political version of “Indian Idol” were to be chosen, irrespective of these divides, the Gujarat chief minister is likely to win hands down.
Since 2002, when INDIA TODAY and pollsters AC Nielsen-ORG-MARG broadened the scope of the Mood of the Nation poll to assess the performance of chief ministers across the country, Modi has always been rated among the five best chief ministers in the country.
In our last three polls, he has held the number one slot and this year, with a nationwide approval rating of 20, Modi polled almost as much as the first and second runners-up, Sheila Dikshit (11) and Nitish Kumar (
10), put together.
For the 15th Mood of the Nation poll, 12,374 voters in 19 states were asked to rate the performance of the chief ministers of their own states as well as their perceptions about the chief ministers of other states. Though chief ministerial writ does not extend beyond the boundaries of the respective states, some like Modi have come to acquire a pan-Indian image.
That Modi’s approval rating is a phenomenal 80 per cent in his home state should come as no surprise, but what is truly astounding is that across several states, he has got between 20 and 25 per cent of the votes. In contrast, the rating of most chief ministers outside their respective states remained in single digits. Modi scored exceptionally well in states like Karnataka, Haryana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and even communist Kerala. Barring the first, all are non-BJP ruled states which are on high growth trajectories.
In Rajasthan, Modi got 35 per cent votes as against 38 per cent of local Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, while in Uttar Pradesh, he was not too far behind Mayawati who, just a over a year ago, became the first chief minister to win an absolute majority in 20 years. Besides the cross-border support, Modi’s backers belong to all three age groups surveyed: 18-24, 25-44 and 45 upwards and is spread equally across the illiterate, the moderately educated though there is a skew in his favour among the highly educated.
Across the country, 12 per cent of voters who voted for the Congress in the last elections say they will vote for Modi if they get a chance.Proof perhaps that people believe in his development mantra.
The overwhelming endorsement is also a proof that despite the controversies that have surrounded Modi these past few years, people are by and large taken in by his image as an absolutely incorruptible politician, something that sounds like an oxymoron these days.

I have already expressed my views about Shri Modi in my blog under
a heading ” Results of assembly elections”. Please visit my website

Modi batters may not like it but this is the fact.He is best Chief Minister Gujarat ever had,or should I say any state of Indian Union ever had or even have today.
I take this opportunity to congratulate him and his minister for bringing in a strigent law for dealing with “latha”.No state of Indian Union has ever guts to make such laws/ammendments to the law, though latha deaths has been reported even from “wet” states.Gujarat is the first ever state to make “latha” selling punishable for life imprisonment and in case of death due to consumption the punishment could be even death.
I request the Gujarat Government to come down strongly with such law for food adulteration also which includes edible oils and milk too.
This should include a clause similar as above.Life imprisonment for selling such adultrated foods and edible oils including milk etc which could cause body defects injuries even death should be punished with death.
These strigent law will act as a deterent and our women, men and children will have better heath and less medical expences. Then we can even boast proudly of not only No 1 State with No 1 CM but with No 1 Healthy people.
I wish Shree Narendra Modi is brought in as a PM by the people next time. What India needs is a roaring lion and not the squeaking mouse.
Narendra modi is my IDOL he is the best. every CM should learn some lesson from him and try to imrove the prevailing conditions inthe states and make INDIA better and best.May modi live forever. he has made gujarat the best.Because he focuses only on the development nothing else. I myself m a resident of mumbai want that Narendra modi should manage Maharashtra for 5 years and show to the public how the state is capable of performing better.
Beyond doubt Narendra Modi is the the Best CM
as every media and political party is trying to attack him and finish him politically by one or the other way’s
and even with all these tensions and even under recession gujarat is the only state having 13% GDP growth while the whole national average itself is only less than 5% at now
it is the only state which provides every villages with 24hrs electricity and all the places are connected with each other with good quality roads
According to report from World Bank by 2015 Gujarat will be the one and only developed state
in the last central budget 23.6% income for the whole nation came only from gujarat
and this yr Rs 3 trillion is going to be invested in gujarat for developmental purposes where as the whole nation is investeing Rs 5.6 trillion out of which 3 trillion is from gujarat alone.
it is the only state in the country which has solved water problem upto 90% today and according to UNO water problem will be completely solved by 2011 in Gujarat
and he is one of the very few politicians who is 100% clean with no corruption
and more than all these he is having is fans all over the world and all political parties of India.
