The inevitable has happened. Nandita Das has found an enemy in Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The reason? Nandita’s upcoming directorial debut Firaaq.
The Gujarat CM has demanded a special screening of the film Firaaq before it’s India release on the 20th of March. It seems he is apprehensive about the portrayal of certain facts of the Gujarat riots in the film.

Unlike most filmmakers who agree to special screenings for apprehensive politicians, Nandita stands firm. She said, “I feel that there is no need for any special screening. The film is based on human relations. In times of riots, people suffer from various problems.”
She added, “Fear lingers on for long after the riot. So the film talks about those human issues rather than anything that’ll create disharmony among various communities and groups of people. It’s a film which raises human issues and connections. That’s one thing. Secondly, we have a censor board which has already scrutinized the film from all angles and has given it’s approval. So where does the question for special screening arise?”
Asked if she has any problem if the special screening is done, she says, “I don’t feel offended but my only point is that it’s not required because there is nothing in the film which will worry anyone in Gujarat.”
“No one has spoken to me directly from Gujarat. But I received a call from the producers who informed me that Mr. Modi wants a special screening before it’s release. I have no problem if the producer takes a positive call on it. What I felt I have shared with you,” said a determined Nandita.

i geuss you are from bengal but why have you not made fims on these topics do you fear media mafia and secular mafia will brand you communal.
1. the illigal immigrants in assam and w.b which have been given voter id to make a vote bank by so called secular mafia.

MODI is a mass leader….no film will deter people from. This is not the first time people have tried to do this to MODIJI…..many films about gujurati riots have been made, and show MODI as the criminal…and yet, he still surfaces heights like no other minister, cause he is the greatest leader in the history of India….people speak as if nothing has happened in India besides Godhra….and are willing to keep it alive as long as possible, only the poeple of India will stop this nonsense when they elected MODIJI as the PM very soon…..
