Japan and South Korea have emerged as the best bets for Gujarat to emerge as the new Asian tiger. Obviously, the state’s strategic location, with an open access to ports which can take goods to the Middle East, Africa and Europe is driving both the Asian industrial giants to the state.

The high-tech Korean Industrial Complex (KIC), being set up in Valsad district in south Gujarat at the proposed Gujarat Vittal Innovation City (GVIC), is expected to “accelerate the bilateral trade and investment linkages between the two countries in a big way”, notes the joint statement issued by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Lee Myung-bak, President of South Korea.

South Asian Giants Investing Heavily in State

The statement suggests that the KIC will be an important milestone in achieving the target set to raise Indo-South Korean bilateral trade to $30 billion by 2014. The joint statement was issued after the visit of the South Korean president to New Delhi on Republic Day.

The Korea Land Corporation (KLC) has undertaken master planning and joint marketing of the project. Almost 70 Korean companies have evinced interest to set up manufacturing facilities with a total investment of $ 1.5 billion, mostly in sectors such as electronics, electrical and automobile.

The South Koreans have followed Japan, a partner country in Vibrant Gujarat ’09. A strong Japanese presence in Gujarat is a surety in the coming days. The Japanese are looking Pipavav and Bhavnagar for their activities very keenly.

A marine ship building park with Japanese support is being proposed at Pipavav. This would be the second one in Gujarat after Dahej. Thanks to cheap labour and locational advantage, Japan and South Korea are looking closely at Gujarat as a manufacturing base.

Partners in the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, Japan also plans its own exclusive mini-Japan township in Dholera Special Investment Region. Now, a similar township has been planned by the South Koreans in Valsad.

Hope that chidambaram won’t say that Koreans & Japanese are agents of saffron brigade.
Not only some industrial groups but all the businessmen & industrialists across the globe are interested in doing business in Gujarat. These is a victory of Guj Govt.’s transparent
industrial policy under the leadership of narendre bhai. While congress leaders are busy in doing corruption, playing dirty politics to devide communities to grab their vote, the nationalists (saffron brigade) are working over time to serve the nation with their all strength. First of all they (congress) pushed Muslims towards terrorism, then thousands of poor villagers to Naxal. Now as he said he has observed saffron link to terrorism. While saying this in sophisticated English, the idiot don’t know that when peace loving Hindus also are taking the path of terrorism, no body but the government & he in particular as home minister is responsible for that. God save my beloved country from these corrupt & traitors of Congress.
