Gujarat’s 50 years history scripted in time capsule, to last 1,000 years: Narendra Modi

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today placed a 90-kg Time Capsule, scripting the progress of the state since iMahatma Mandir, Time Capsulets formation beneath the site of the proposed Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar today.

The capsule, called ‘Kaal Sanduk’ or ‘Smriti Manjusha’, is made of special gauge stainless steel. Speaking on the occasion, Modi said that ‘Mahatma Temple’ being built by the state government in the state capital would become a source of inspiration to the future generations and the government in the state.

Modi said the centrally located Mahatma Mandir is being built on a site at the state capital so that it could be viewed from all directions by the elected representatives, administrators and others, continuously reminding them about the high ideals and values of the man of the millennium, the global citizen.

Mahatma Mandir Layout, GandhinagarThe scripts in the capsule are written on a 100-ft long, 3-ft wide special paper mixed with plastic in Gujarati, Hindi, English and Sanskrit and it will last for 1,000 years, claimed the state government press release.

The time capsule contains 29 audio-visual compact discs prepared by the Government of Gujarat, Ravishankar Maharaj’s word-by-word speech delivered at the time of Gujarat’s Foundation Day on May 1, 1960, proceedings of the state’s golden jubilee celebration on May 1, 2010 and the resolution passed at a special assembly session held early this year.
