Chief minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Udyog 2010 exhibition of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI), and also dedicated the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (Trade Centre).

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Narendra Modi said, “Gujarat has become synonymous with words such as growth, development, progress and growth engine. The state is setting the benchmark in all spheres of development, and we want to take it to new heights.”

Impressed by the Trade Centre, the CM congratulated the SGCCI for making the centre a reality. He also said that the centre was the only one of its kind in the state. However, he suggested that the centre should be used to promote crafts of rural artisans by holding exhibitions of their products. He also asked representatives of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry to take a cue from the project.

Surat district government pleader Nayan Sukhadwala, who was part of the prosecution team in the sensational gangrape case, donated his entire case fee of Rs1,11,111 to the CM’s Kanya Kelavani Nidhi.
