Coastal city of Bhavnagar is all set for the two-day festivities as part of the state-level Republic Day celebrations.
Governor Kamla Beniwal and Chief Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Bhavnagar on Wednesday and presided over host of functions.
Modi also laid the foundation stone for ‘Roll On Roll Off’ ferry service between Ghogha and Dahej on Wednesday. The project aims to facilitate speedy passenger travel and smooth cargo movement through the sea route between Ghogha and Dahej. While distance between the two ports by land route is 360 km, by the sea-route it is only 31 km.
After visiting Ghogha, Modi arrived at Bhavnagar city where he flagged off anti-malnutrition rally in which over 30,000 persons reportedly took part.
Later in the afternoon, Modi addressed a Mahila Samela before moving for ‘At Home’ programme for the freedom fighter.
